We’re delighted to announce the results of our 2025 Year 7 Orchards Spelling Bee. After some fierce classroom heats, 12 finalists did battle on the big stage with Scarlett and Harry the last two standing. After a brilliant semantic tussle it was Scarlett who emerged victorious 🌟

Dear Parents/Guardians, I am writing to inform you about an incident that occurred in the community yesterday after school hours. We were made aware of this incident and have been working closely with local police and businesses to identify the students involved. Through our investigations, which included reviewing CCTV footage, we have identified a number of students who were involved, not only those directly participating in the incident but also those who were captured filming or encouraging it. Please be assured that we have issued serious sanctions to all students identified as being involved. We want to make it unequivocally clear that such behavior will not be tolerated within our school community. We will continue to take a firm stance on these matters moving forward to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students. Thank you for your continued support. Hannah Carter

Year 9 had a 'Whale' of a time at the Natural History Museum, London last week with a total of 80 Students enjoying the opportunity to explore the historic documents, relics and interactive exhibitions taking a trip back in time to some prehistoric settings. 🐋

Important Update: Early Dismissal Due to Heat We're all very aware of the current temperature issues today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Having tracked the classroom temperatures at Orchards Academy already this morning, they're averaging 30 degrees at 11:30 AM. These temperatures are only likely to get hotter. Unfortunately, as an older building, we don't have a significant number of air-conditioned rooms, and as a result, the classrooms are extremely warm and not conducive to learning. Therefore, I've made the decision that we'll be having an early lunch at 12:30 PM, followed by an end-of-day dismissal at 1:00 PM today. Once released from school, students must go straight home and shouldn't be out and about. I appreciate that for some parents this may be an issue, so we'll have a supervised space available that will be staffed for the remainder of the day should you wish for your child to remain on site. Upon receipt of this notification, if you wish your child to remain at school, please email enquiries@orchards-tkat.org by 12:30 PM today, and we'll ensure that they're kept in school. Hannah Carter

An incredible day for our Year 7s last week who took part in a friendly fixture at Bobby More School. They have amazing facilities, and it was truly special to see the smiles on our students' faces when they spotted the Olympic Stadium.

Unfortunately there was an incident outside school this afternoon where one of our students had an accident on her bike. She is in the care of her parents, she is receiving medical attention and we anticipate her making a full recovery. Thank you for your good wishes and support.
