Barclays Biggest Football Event

On 7th March 2024, some students attended the “Biggest Girls Football Day” event at the Legends Sports Centre. It was a day filled with empowering activities and valuable discussions aimed at promoting girls' participation in sports and celebrating International Women's Day.

The event kicked off with a carousel of activities designed to engage and inspire our female students, with students having the opportunity to enhance their football skills thanks to interactive sessions led by experienced coaches. Kent Police also addressed the topic of violence against women, fostering important conversations around safety and empowerment. Students then took part in a session focused on body confidence in sports which was facilitated by representatives from Dove and Nike. This session delved into the barriers that girls may face when participating in sports and provided strategies for building confidence and resilience. It was a valuable opportunity for our girls to explore self-acceptance and empowerment within the realm of athletics.

After an engaging morning of activities and discussions, participants enjoyed lunch before diving into the afternoon's main event: a fun and friendly round-robin tournament of games. This tournament provided an opportunity for our girls to showcase their skills and sportsmanship in a supportive environment.

Overall, the "Biggest Girls Football Day" was a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiasm and participation of our students, coaches, and guest speakers. We celebrated the achievements and contributions of women in sports and beyond and the day served as a reminder of the importance of gender equality and the role that sports play in promoting inclusivity and diversity.

We are grateful for the support of our community in making this event possible and look forward to continuing to empower our young female athletes to thrive both on and off the field.
