Year 9 had a 'Whale' of a time at the Natural History Museum, London last week with a total of 80 Students enjoying the opportunity to explore the historic documents, relics and interactive exhibitions taking a trip back in time to some prehistoric settings. 🐋

Important Update: Early Dismissal Due to Heat We're all very aware of the current temperature issues today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Having tracked the classroom temperatures at Orchards Academy already this morning, they're averaging 30 degrees at 11:30 AM. These temperatures are only likely to get hotter. Unfortunately, as an older building, we don't have a significant number of air-conditioned rooms, and as a result, the classrooms are extremely warm and not conducive to learning. Therefore, I've made the decision that we'll be having an early lunch at 12:30 PM, followed by an end-of-day dismissal at 1:00 PM today. Once released from school, students must go straight home and shouldn't be out and about. I appreciate that for some parents this may be an issue, so we'll have a supervised space available that will be staffed for the remainder of the day should you wish for your child to remain on site. Upon receipt of this notification, if you wish your child to remain at school, please email enquiries@orchards-tkat.org by 12:30 PM today, and we'll ensure that they're kept in school. Hannah Carter

An incredible day for our Year 7s last week who took part in a friendly fixture at Bobby More School. They have amazing facilities, and it was truly special to see the smiles on our students' faces when they spotted the Olympic Stadium.

Unfortunately there was an incident outside school this afternoon where one of our students had an accident on her bike. She is in the care of her parents, she is receiving medical attention and we anticipate her making a full recovery. Thank you for your good wishes and support. With the prospect of the Met Office issuing weather warnings for heat this week we would like to offer students the option of wearing school PE Kit in place of regular uniform. We will communicate if this is to be continued beyond this week on Friday. Please note that school PE Kit must be as per the policy and not include any of the following: Short shorts (above the knee) Bottoms with logos on (must be plain) T-shirts other than with the school logo embroidered Hoodies/ sweatshirts of any kind This measure is to support students in focusing on learning and any uniform infringements will be addressed in the usual way. Please encourage students to bring water to school but a reminder that anti-social behaviour, including water guns, will not be tolerated.
