Food & Cookery
The food and cookery curriculum has been designed to enable students to engage at both a practical and theoretical level. Application of understanding is central to showing confidence in these disciplines and diverse feedback allows students to enhance their abilities to self regulate and reflect. Learners are required to maintain a strong focus on the elements of food preparation, where adaptability is a central skill that is cultivated throughout the practical phases.
The curriculum will enable learners to develop their personal interest and skills in cookery that will help them to prepare food that is healthy and nutritious. These vocational skills will help the learner to make appropriate food choices and provide a balanced diet for themselves and others. These skills can readily be transferred to further study or employment within the food sector.
