Computer Science and IT
The curriculum aims to equip students with the disciplinary knowledge and understanding to prosper in a digital world. This includes digital literacy and office skills with key focus on employability skills. Our focus on project work is designed to mimic the continuous assessment students complete in KS4 and KS5 vocational computing programs. Our curriculum is designed to set students on a computing pathway which will allow them to either enter employment in the computing industry or pursue the highest levels of education in computer science.
We deliver an ambitious curriculum which covers and expands on the national curriculum for computing. Our curriculum educates students to live safely in an increasingly digital world. We place a consistent emphasis on linking the content studied to real world experience and we want students to be able to see and understand the ways computers connect humans while also acknowledging the potential risks associated with an online presence. This substantive knowledge will be built on lessons which seek to constantly develop the literacy, numeracy and logical thinking required to prosper in any computing pathway. Computational thinking sits at heart of the curriculum, providing a robust platform of problem solving elements that are able to apply in subject and in a cross curricular capacity.
