Year 10 Trip to Kew Gardens and The London Dungeons

On 11th July 2024, Year 10 History students had the opportunity to attend the National Archives at Kew Gardens and the infamous London Dungeons. This experience was designed to complement their Crime and Punishment GCSE paper.

During their visit to the National Archives, students had the opportunity to view and handle original artefacts dating back to the 1880s from Whitechapel. This hands-on experience offered a unique insight into the historical context surrounding crime and punishment during that era. Moreover, students delved into the enigma of the Jack the Ripper murders and were able to witness the original 'dear boss' letter attributed to the notorious Ripper.

Afterwards, the students ventured into the eerie depths of the London Dungeons, where they embarked on a journey through time, exploring the various types of crimes and punishments of the past. The immersive experience provided a vivid portrayal of the harsh realities faced by individuals involved in criminal activities.

The day was a resounding success, with students demonstrating exemplary behaviour and engagement throughout the trip.
